Customers Modine CIS

Modine CIS

Modine CIS produces heat exchangers for both the commercial ventilation and industrial cooling sectors. Their products range from small, simple radiators to 14-meter steel giants used for large operations, such as cooling power plants or drying paper in a paper mill.

Modine CIS headquarters in Söderköping (Sweden) focuses on unique products, designed for customer-specific needs, produced with short lead times. The complexity they deal with on a daily basis called for a sales and product configurator that shared all product-related information with Microsoft Dynamics AX. e-Con offered the right solution, enabling the sales department to prepare accurate quotations and equipping design engineering to prepare for production.

The e-Con models they’ve created contain all the logic needed to figure out a product structure, starting from a ordering code. Thousands of parametric drawings have been translated into e-Con rules and every detail gets determined – down to the tiniest screw.

At the process level, Modine CIS uses e-Con to handle large volumes of products, both standard and custom. e-Con ensures high quality and consistency for all data shared with Dynamics AX, and enables Modine CIS to shorten design time. Over the past 4 years, the company has used e-Con to configure and refresh nearly half a million products and components.

In the near future, Modine CIS will incorporate e-Con into their Product Data Management (PDM) integration. Every time a new product drawing is released, the product structure will automatically flow to a model that creates all needed items in Dynamics AX and validates that all details are correct. Combining e-Con with PDM will increase the company’s ability to standardize complex offerings, reducing risk, delays, and waste.

The complexity and volume of Modine CIS offerings means that it does take a few minutes for Dynamics AX to process the data that it stores from e-Con. In context, the same process would take hours using only Dynamics AX, so the company is quite happy to work with the benefits they’re realizing with e-Con!
