LOBAS

LOBAS (Lonevåg Beslagfabrikk A/S) was established as an independent production company in 1947, and has since developed into a market leader in several areas within the construction market in Norway. LOBAS is a specialist in roof safety equipment and garage doors and they use the e-Con Product Configurator to configure garage- and entrance doors.

Why did LOBAS select e-Con as preferred Product Configurator?

“e-Con is a product that lives in Dynamics AX. Not a standalone configurator so that we have a plethora of different programs, but just the one ERP system. e-Con has a lot of modification possibilities and is compatible with a web shop which is something we are interested to do in the future.”

What did e-Con bring LOBAS?

“Before we had e-Con we only had one sales agent that was able to configure garage doors. The complexity of all the options and modifications that are possible with a garage door take a substantial amount of time to master. With e-Con we could transport this knowledge from someone’s head into the configurator, making all the know-how readily available for basically anyone with limited knowledge of the product. e-Con has helped us limit the risk of being exposed in case this particular person would get sick or quit and has made it a lot faster to configure quotes. One of the best things that it has given us is the ability to program the production robots within the sales configuration. Initially we weren’t aiming for this, but the possibilities have been so great that we have completely altered the way we do our production. Our production plant is now primarily steered by the sales orders configured in e-Con.”

Is it possible to grasp the added value of e-Con in figures?

“That is difficult to say as this change has been implemented together with other measures. But without exaggerating we can state that the time to write a sales order has been reduced by 40%. The easiness to write a sales order has been increased tenfold and the error margin of special productions have been decreased significantly. These change have enabled us to make changes to the production process so that we have cut back 20% on manual labor costs. This is convergence of automation changes we have made, but it would not have been possible without the configuration power of e-Con.”
