How engineering benefits from CPQ tools
Adding complex products to your ERP system; including multilevel BOMs, routes, descriptions, and instructions is usually considered a difficult, error-prone task limited to experts. e-Con CPQ can sharply decrease the complexity of this work, and there are other ways that our software can benefit engineering staff.
Equip sales en acces to related information en update with ease
Customers are getting smarter and smarter about their goods and services, and sales may need to answer complex questions—for example spec details, impact of changes, optimal parts or even goods. This is even more challenging when production works with multiple versions and innovates continuously. Along with quick and complete access to information, e-Con helps ensure sales is “smart” with needs analysis and alerts and prompts that prevent impossible combinations and recommend best components and goods. The UI is designed for quick search for specs details and even enables “as is” scenarios that build customer confidence in sales’ ability to propose informed choices.
Give teams access to product-related information and do’s and don’ts
Companies still are looking for ways to give sales access to deep product knowledge that’s relevant and easy for them to understand and apply. Too often, the front is all but disconnected from the back end and production, relying on insufficient information that might not even be current. Or they may have access to some knowledge but still need to get into ERP and search—it feels easier and faster to email production or associated teams, but it’s ad hoc and throws communication and control into disarray. Worst, production and fulfillment can’t count on time well-spent, and it’s likely sales may misunderstand information or not update it so that it reaches all stakeholders.
With e-Con product and price knowledge is centralized throughout the organization, and more important for sales, it’s visible and accessible via an intuitive product catalog/guided selling UI. They’ll be presented with all possible options at the right time in the process, with assurance that regional, customer-specific, or any granular variable is accounted for. Pricing is calculated automatically, and impact of changing options—for example time to delivery—is shown instantly. Needs analysis sets them on the right path so that they can work with the right choices without guessing. Alerts, suggestions, and prompts prevent errors and expand sales possibilities. When quotes are complete, they can be converted instantly to orders with specs, BOMs, routings—sales actually helps take care of production.
Update complex product structures with ease and avoid redundant information
Item management is a continuously moving process, in particular if you’re adding variations and frequent updates. Without an automated system, item combinations are impossible to track. Even with a system, you may need to enter the same information repeatedly. e-Con lets you add items to Microsoft Dynamics AX or NAV with a guided questionnaire that reduces steps and prevents redundancy. With versioning you can enter updates without losing history, as well as control how updates are made with check-in and check-out features for users—if one user is working on a version, it can’t be modified at the same time by any other user.
